Our Mission......
The Chris and Patricia Burns Junior Golf Foundation was founded in Dec, 2022. It's sole purpose is to continue the Legacy of Chris and Patricia Burns of taking care of kids through Junior Golf.
Our main goal is to break down the barrier of cost and access for kids to participate in golf. Our main initiatives are as follows:
1. Have a "golf pressence" in every elementary school in Lauderdale and Colbert County.
2. Fund at least two scholarships each year for local kids who help grow junior golf.
3. Sponsor the cost for clinics and equipment for kids who can't afford it.
4. Hold free after school programs led by professional golf instructors.
5. Give back to High School teams where needed. (shirts, bags, equipment and entry fee's)
6. Give kids a place to learn to play golf at no cost (big goal, may take some time!)
Here is a link to SNAG Golf- www.SNAGGOLF.com. It is a wonderful way to make learning the basics of golf easy and fun. Having a SNAG Golf set at each school will give every kid K - 12 the opportunity to learn golf during their PE time. The school has the ability to make golf a part of the PE cirriculum where kids learn basics of the stance, grip and swing. They will have enough equipment to setup targets to aim at to practice chipping, putting and full shot. They also will have enough equipment to setup a 6 hole course at school.
Tournament Format
Event will be a 4 person scramble with flights in each shotgun. Flights will be determined after all scores have been turned in. Prizes will be given to top teams in each flight. Shotgun at 9:00 am and 1:00 pm.
Entry fee will be $1,000 per team including carts. Field will be limited to the first 50 paid teams. Entry deadline is April 28, 2024. Soft-spikes or tennis shoes, no metal spikes please.

Chris Burns
Who would have known that Chris Burns began his golfing "career" as a caddy at the age of 6? Mr. Burns has inspired numerous lives throughout his many years as the Head Professional at Florence Golf and Country Club. He has done remarkable things with the Junior Golf Program as well as received many honors/awards throughout his career.
Not only has Mr. Burns changed many lives through his golf career but he has helped save lives through the dollars raised for heart research. In 1992 Mr. Burns realized the impact that heart disease had on his own life and established the first American Heart Association Tournement in memory of his friend George E. Wilson.Chris also started the Laurie Burns Franks Memorial Tournament raising thousands of dollars to help fund local high school golf programs.
Chris and Patricia Burns have been a vital part of our community and junior golf. We are honored to start this foundation in their name and continue on the tradition of what they have both done in so many lives.
